Installing Ubuntu may have destroyed the Asus Recovery partition option.

You can contact Asus and order Recovery Media from them for a small cost.

Or download the Windows 8.1 ISO file and make your own Recovery Media.

With Windows 8/8.1 The Product Key on preinstalled Operating Systems (HP, Acer, etc) is embedded in the BIOS in the Motherboard, so that the lost and/or worn C.O.A. Sticker problem is no more.

When you reinstall it will pick up the Product Key and activate the system automatically.

If it does not, follow these steps:

Hello Syed -- I have a somewhat similar problem to Robert, and before I start any action to make my booting work more smoothly, I need to ask you what are the particulars of what you told him -- 'change the boot order in your computer's BIOS settings so that it first starts from the disk or USB'

1) I am using the new free Win10 on my old 32-bit Dell Latitude D630 and find it is now stretched to its absolute maximum capacity. Even with an extra Gb of RAM, that my local Staples technician installed for me, I am well-accustomed both to slow, staggering boots and to frequent max-out stalls of the computer when running FireFox on our fast, ample home WiFi powered by NetGear.

2) This laptop came to me as a purchase from Overstock.com and its OS was then XP, installed by the fulfillment house with remaindered software/license.

3) I purchased a new Win7 install disks from MicroSoft and followed the onscreen instructions to do a 'clean install' but found that it now had two partitions and would always ask me which OS I wanted to boot. The extra RAM came next, and the Staples tech said he couldn't fix the boot nor could he remove the idle partition.

4) Win10 has kept the partition and here I am looking for how to clean the XP off the HD and eliminate the boot anomalies. Thanks for helping!
