I have an Acer Aspire One D257. It does not have a built in DVD/ Draw. It came pre-installed with 'windows 7 starter' I do not have a recovery disc etc. for this program. Last year I used widows any time upgrade to install 'windows 7 Home premium upgrade,' which was installed via the internet by a technician of Microsoft. I then had the upgrade key sent to me by e mail, which I still have. I later had problems with the computer and decided to re-in stall windows 7. I visited Microsoft site and downloaded to a USB key the windows 7 home premium program (32 bit). I successfully installed this into the Acer D257. However I was unable to activate with my Windows 7 Home premium upgrade key, for some reason it does not accept it ?. So now I have a dilemma, I have a key which cost about £76.00 for the upgrade which appears to be useless. Also I am unable to get back to the original 'windows 7 starter' as system restore will only let me go back to a point in time which is after I installed windows 7 , about 2 weeks ago. How can I resolve this without having to buy yet another new program. P.S. I do have use of an external DVD draw if I need it. Can anyone help please.
